Symptoms, well where do we start....
This is a controversial page of info as there is no actual one symptom to tell you that you have a vagal schwannoma. Every one is different. However, I have compliled a list of symptoms that seem to run steady with everyone I have talked to. Again, I will have to make comment that I am in no way even close to being a doctor. I am only stating what I have learned from others and experienced myself.
The best thing about comparing symptoms is that you get to free your mind of "Am I going CRAZY?? Is this Only happening to me???" Or, "What the heck is going on here?" and you're not even thinking it COULD be associated with the schwannoma.
Well, here they are: (You may experience one of the below symptoms or many)
* slight-moderate vertigo
* jabbing ear/temple pain on the affected side
* muffled ear sound like you're under water
* pressure in the ear as if you have been thrown down a hill, FAST!
* hoarse voice comes and goes
* there is a concensus that low blood pressure runs among some of us (mine 105/52 is my norm)
* fatigue... totally feeling TIRED!!!!
* on again/off again sore shoulder on affected side
* occasional spasming/twiching eye (one girls has gone from that to facial twiching now)
* swollen nodes/glands
* the feeling something is caught in your throat
* tightening/cutting off of the airway
* occasional sore throat
* short term memory SUCKS!
* speaking of memory; meeting people for the first time again and again.... lol
* ability to concentrate on just reading a book (re-reading that page, over and OVER!)
* metallic taste in the mouth
* headaches (I dont get those yet, but others do)
* I have this one lately, where I spell words or write numbers out of order (not sure if related)
* numbness of the arm and/or hand on the affected side
